History

The suburb was named after Sir James Dickson (1832-1901) who was one of the founders of the Constitution. Sir James was also a Legislator, Federalist and was the Premier of Queensland from 1898-1899. He was among the leading advocates in the State for Federation, attending several Federal Councils as a delegate.
