History
John Macarthur was an Army officer and pastoralist who built Elizabeth Farm House 1793 which was alter renamed to Camden Park Estate. He was a member of reformed Legislative Council of New South Wales from 1829-32 and was one of the principal founders of the Merino Wool Industry in Australia.
The suburb name "Macarthur" was gazetted on 22 March 1982
