History
Watson was named after the Honourable John Christian Watson (1867-1941). Honourable John Christian Watson was the third Prime Minister of the Commonwealth and first Labour Prime Minister from April - August 1904. He became prominent in Labour movement in 1893 when he was elected as the President of the Sydney Trades and Labour Council at the age of twenty-six. He was also elected to Federal Parliament in 1901 and appointed leader of the Labour Party. He retired in 1910.
