LJPM History LJPM began trading under that name in late 1998. For five years prior to that, Principal Leah Jay had operated as a sole trader. Sole trader in the true sense, Leah worked alone for around a year. But word of mouth endorsement from the original clients saw business grow rather rapidly. From sole operator in 1994, LJPM today has six full-time staff and selected casuals to help maintain the level of personal service Leah set in the beginning. In fact, it has been that real commitment to personal service that has seen the demand for LJPM services grow. The growth though has been managed carefully, to ensure the service benchmark was not just maintained, but continually improved. Leah had decided to venture into business for herself after heading the property management team at, arguably, the region's most reputable real estate office. It was during those five years plus that Leah realised that, despite the best efforts of management, the interests of sales and rentals were often not the same. And usually sales would hold sway. It became apparent there was a need for a service offering specialised property management. A professional service with superior levels of expertise and services, beyond the established 'rentals departments', and dedicated to property management. And so business commenced in 1994, as part of an established real estate office in Beaumont Street Hamilton. After three years, it became apparent that the business would soon outgrow that office. It was time to move out and create our own identity. Twelve months planning and effort came to fruition in November 1998. We moved into the new Cosmopolitan Building in Tudor Street. At that same time we commenced trading as Leah Jay Property Management. Demand for our services saw the opening of our Lake Macquarie office at Warners Bay in October 2003 followed shortly after by the office at East Maitland. This enables us to effectively manage for clients who have investment properties situated around the region.
