Your perpetual-holiday fantasy could come true at 123 Tramican Street, Point Lookout, on Queensland's North Stradbroke Island.

Dreaming of an island paradise home? The fantasy could come true on Queensland’s North Stradbroke Island, where a one-bedroom, modular tiny home – with approved plans for a larger house – is waiting for a new owner.

On a corner block at a high spot on Point Lookout, the house at 123 Tramican Street was created by Podcon from a shipping container.

The home opens up for a truly effortless indoor-outdoor flow.

It was largely built on the mainland, shipped over to North Stradbroke Island and finished on-site. It has a coastal vibe, an indoor-outdoor flow, and high-quality materials.

North Stradbroke Island lies in Moreton Bay, only 30 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD, but locals say it seems like another world. The population on “Straddie” swells in holiday periods, but only about 2000 residents call it their permanent home.

There's plenty of room for living, despite its diminutive size.

“The current owners fell in love with this property on first inspection,” says Ray White North Stradbroke Island agent Chris Ransley. “They have used it as a weekender, and it’s been ideal. But they have a growing family and something perfect has come up elsewhere on the island, so they have decided to sell.”

The house has council-approved plans to expand into a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with dual living areas. Some of the images on the listing show renders of the approved development.

“There are two pods on the property – the main dwelling and a storage area with an outdoor shower,” Ransley says. “The extension would sit on top of the storage area.”

The property sold for $1.175 million in 2021, but Ransley says it is currently tricky to price.

“That is the reason we’re going to auction, because there are no comparable sales – there is nothing like it on the island,” he says. “We have given up guessing who it’s going to suit because it ticks so many boxes – from retirees who want a single-level property to families and investors who would do the extension and essentially have a new four-bedroom beach house.”

The house currently has a single bedroom.

The journey to North Stradbroke Island from Brisbane involves a 30-minute drive to Cleveland, followed by about a 45-minute trip on the vehicle ferry or 25 minutes on the passenger ferry.

Ransley lives on the island and says the lifestyle is amazing.

“My family gets to wake up on the weekend and we’re already on holidays,” he says. “I’m very lucky that I get to work and live in paradise.”

The property at 123 Tramican Street, Point Lookout, is due to be auctioned on June 6.
