Award-winning Narrabundah home sells for $2.6m in just 14 days

At the upper end of the property market, buyers can afford to take their time – but this Narrabundah house needed just 14 days to secure its latest owner.

The award-winning home at 104 Captain Cook Crescent sold for $2.6 million through Hive Property, just three months after it last changed hands for $2.525 million.

Selling agent Josh Morrissey says the result was particularly notable given the volume of prestige property currently competing for buyers.

“There are circa 60 properties in the south that are north of $2 million,” he says. “Getting a result like that in a market that’s pretty saturated in that price point was a good result.”

Known as The Kew, the four-bedroom house was built as a display home by Classic Constructions and won both the 2017 HIA ACT & Southern NSW home of the year and display home of the year awards.

Its sculptural design makes the most of its northerly orientation through extensive glazing and skylights, with interiors featuring pietra marble, blackbutt timber, bespoke cabinetry and a statement kitchen.

There’s also a dedicated cinema, home automation, underfloor heating, a Tesla Powerwall and an outdoor kitchen.

The home was already familiar to much of the buyer pool, with Morrissey estimating about 90 per cent of those showing interest had also followed its previous campaign. The eventual buyer had spotted the property online the last time, and moved quickly when it returned to market.

Morrissey says its combination of design, build quality and low-maintenance living made it stand out among competing listings.

“When you’re buying from a builder, and it’s a public display home, you’re getting the best of their craftsmanship,” he says.
