Byron Bay trophy home with wellness wing eyes $15 million sale

The owner of a Byron Bay trophy home complete with a unique wellness room is chasing high price hopes after quietly listing it for sale.

Sam Beddison, a philanthropist and entrepreneur, is selling his contemporary residence with a price guide of $15 million, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Beddison purchased the property for $5.3 million in 2023 before spending an estimated $2.9 million on a luxury renovation.

If he’s successful in securing his guide figure, it will nearly triple what he originally paid.

Designed as a private sanctuary, the property features bold architectural forms, natural materials and lush tropical landscaping.

The home is centred around an open-air courtyard, embracing indoor-outdoor living.

It boasts five bedroom suites, five designer bathrooms, multiple living and entertaining zones, covered terraces and a heated swimming pool.

It also features a dedicated wellness wing complete with a private sauna, a Zen room, a gym and traditional Japanese soaking bath.

The property is on the market with Will Phillips and Elisma Iesu with Sotheby’s International Realty Byron Bay.

“Every room has been curated to maximise light, space and the calming connection to the surrounding tropical gardens,” the listing reads.

The property on Kendall Street, is a short stroll to Byron Bay’s town centre.

Beddison is a director of private investment firm Rigby Park alongside his mother, Robyn.

His late father, Tony Beddison, was a prominent Victorian philanthropist and businessman.

He founded recruitment company the Beddison Group in 1977 and was the former chairman of The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne.

In 2002 he was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia and in 2016 he was made a Companion of the Order of Australia. He died in 2020 aged 77.
