Danny Wallis buys two Block 2025 Daylesford homes for $2.15m each

The Block’s best customer, Danny Wallis, has just added two more jewels to his property crown, quietly snapping up the two Daylesford homes nobody else wanted for $2.15 million each.

The IT entrepreneur and serial Block bidder’s portfolio from the Channel Nine renovation show now stands at 14 homes, with his spending tally blowing out to well over $50 million.

Wallis nabbed the keys to 4 Cedar Lane and 5 Cedar Lane, Daylesford, in a deal first revealed by the Herald Sun. He paid $840,000 below the pair’s auction reserve, which was set at the disastrous 2025 finale. A Nine spokesperson confirmed to The Age that Wallis bought both homes for $2.15 million.

Both homes originally passed in on vendor bids of $3.1 million and relisted soon after via private treaty, only to languish in the listings for around 10 months. In June, the prices for both were revised to $2.59 million.

Wallis, who reportedly bided his time to ensure a discount, will rent them out.

Ray White Sunbury’s Aaron Hill brokered the deal for 5 Cedar Lane and, while he couldn’t confirm the buyer or price, said he was happy to see the home sold and thrilled for Blockheads Emma and Ben.

“Of course I’m happy. I spoke to Em and Ben for the first time today [August 12] and they actually didn’t know what was going on but they’re obviously very happy too,” he says.

“At the end of the day I’ve done so many of these Block homes, and this is the first time I’ve not sold mine at the auction finale.

“But while the buyer thinks he got a good deal I actually think it sold for a fair price in the end. And the vendor is happy so that’s great.”

Of the five homes auctioned off in last year’s Daylesford series, only three sold on the day. Under the show’s format, contestants pocket any cash above the property’s reserve if it sells at auction. If it doesn’t, they walk away with nothing.

House 4, created by Hannah Thetford and Candice Wood, sold through Will Walton from Belle Property Daylesford, who was also unable to confirm the price or buyer.

He did say buyer inquiries and open home attendance across the area had jumped off the back of the Daylesford publicity.

“It’s just nuts. There are so many good buys under the $1 million mark right now … and this is possibly from all the attention of The Block,” he says.

“And recent sales show the value and opportunities here.”

Wallis, who also bought Robby Lippett and Mat Johnson’s home at 1 Cedar Lane last year for $3,099,999 under the hammer, appears to have already gotten that memo.

Beyond his trio of Daylesford investments, the founder of DWS Group has bought several other homes across several seasons of The Block, including Omar and Oz’s house in the tree-change town of Gisborne, which he purchased for $5,666,666.66.

In 2021 he bought three houses on one street in Hampton; in 2020, three more in bayside Brighton; and in 2019, Mitch and Mark’s winning home for $3,374,000.

Whatever happens at this year’s Block finale in Mount Eliza, one thing’s certain: with 14 houses and more than $50 million splashed already, Wallis isn’t giving up the best-customer crown any time soon.
