Music icon Elton John has unwittingly caused a stir online after giving fans a sneak peak into his home life ahead of the festive season.
It all started innocently enough – the critically acclaimed British singer and songwriter released a tongue-in-cheek video to his 5.5 million Instagram followers.
In the 14 second clip, the Tiny Dancer star is dressed in a Gucci tracksuit in the kitchen of the house he shares with his husband David Furnish and their children.
As the camera rolls, the 78-year-old mocks disgust at failing to escape his 1973 ditty, Step into Christmas, hitting playlists across the world.

As he opens a cupboard door, the lyrics and melody sound cause him to recoil. The same happens when he opens a cutlery drawer, the fridge and finally the oven.
“It must be that time of year again…” the video finishes with the caption as it fades to black.
The clip has garnered universal praise from social media users, with the video clocking up almost 15 million views in just two days.
Yet, what might surprise the superstar is that many viewers are focused on his decor and appliances.
“Who here is mostly enjoying having a nosy around Elton’s kitchen?” one person wrote.
With more than 5000 likes to the single comment, it proved unanimous.

“I wanted him to take us into that walk-in frigidaire,” a second person wrote.
“I love that it’s obviously a beautiful dream kitchen… but also so normal. It’s clearly used and loved.”
Others focused on the state of John’s oven.
“Thank god he has a dirty oven door too,” one person chimed in.
“Nice to see even Elton’s oven needs cleaning before Christmas, my oven glass needs an oven doctor too,” a second person wrote.
Despite showing glimpses of family life – a collage of photos on a fridge, family photos hanging on the walls – the singer doesn’t reveal which house he’s filmed the video in.
It is thought the video was filmed inside the singer’s Woodside Estate – and primary residence – in Old Windsor in the UK.

The six-time Grammy winner and two-time Academy Award winner purchased the property in 1974 for around £400,000, Realtor.com reported.
That sum is equivalent to more than £3.3 million ($6.6 million) in today’s money.
Elton reportedly owns about seven properties around the world, including homes in Beverly Hills, Atlanta, South of France, Venice in Italy, and Toronto in Canada.
During the course of his career, Elton has sold more than 300 million records worldwide.
He has an estimated net worth of £475 million (more than $959 million).
