A bride-to-be has made a startling discovery in the attic of her new home.
It was late last year when Kaitlyn Ostolaza, from Illinois, and her fiance first noticed the extra storage space in their property, the New York Post reported.
The couple bought the house in 2024, yet the process of moving in and settling into their new place distracted them from exploring their surroundings.

It wasn’t until Ostolaza’s father pointed out the possible attic space that she noticed the missing string to access a set of pull-down stairs.
A makeshift rope proved the answer and soon Ostolaza was face to face with a large box.
Inside the box, carefully folded and preserved was a wedding dress.
The dress, possibly from the late 1980s to early 1990s, features a Queen Anne neckline with lace embellishment and a v-waistline.
Ostolaza shared her discovery in a new viral video on TikTok.
“You bought a house with your fiance and find a wedding dress in the attic,” she captioned the video.

She then filmed herself carefully opening the outer cardboard box to reveal a second box covered in plastic and wedding dress.
“This is not the previous owner’s wedding dress,” Ostolaza wrote when publishing the video.
“Hoping to use something left behind as my something borrowed for our wedding. I just know whoever wore this dress looked amazing in it. The train is everything.”
The video has been watched almost three million times.
It has also compelled many to share their own stories about their wedding dress.
“Unfortunately I left my wedding dress in an attic of a rental house 12 years ago…..I should go by and see if it’s still there. I didn’t have it preserved tho so it’s most likely ruined,” one person wrote.

“I thought I had my dream dress, I was wrong,” a second person wrote at the sight of Ostolaza discovery.
To which Ostolaza replied: “If you’re a size 10 let me know”.
Others shared photos from their wedding day while one person even theorised about how Ostolaza came to find the dress.
“I bet you the person that belongs to didn’t have a daughter to give it to. It was left there for you. It was a gift from her to you. That’s how I would see it,” they wrote.
