Agnes Water is an increasingly popular tourist town located in Central Queensland, located approximately 120 kilometers north of Bundaberg.

It is popular among backpackers as being similar to Byron Bay, Northern NSW, but still hidden from the general tourist route. (Source: Queensland Government) The business has been operating since May 2002 when it took the bold move to open in uncharted waters where no backpacker presence was evident. The business opened with a license to operate 44 beds. This has since been increased to 80 beds. A licensed bar and Internet services have been added and contribute significantly to the overall income of the business. The town and local area has become a favorite with the backpacker market with steady growth in numbers due to its quaint local Queensland feel. "Shop where locals shop and drink where locals drink" has been the town motto for many years and this interaction gives the tourists a real feel of what a Queensland coastal town is like Over the years, many micro businesses have formed to take advantage of the surge of new tourists coming to town. These businesses did not exist previously.

Domestic airlines fly to both Gladstone and Bundaberg, both 120kms away, with local airstrip also available with connecting buses. Inspections are strictly by appointment only.
