Summit Estate Wines "The Romance of Wine"

Summit Estate Wines "The Romance of Wine"

At Thulimbah just north of Stanthorpe and only 2.5 hours from Brisbane is Summit Estate Wines, on 10.11hectare (25 acres) and proudly positioned as the highest altitude winery and cellar door on The Granite Belt, Queensland's recognised and respected wine growing region.

As its motto suggests, Summit Estate Wines was the passion and romance of a group of families to create three main aims: make great memorable wines, have enjoyment and fun and create a sustainable ongoing business. These aims have definitely been achieved and this well known and popular winery is ready now for its next owner.

The first vineyards were planted in 1997 and in 2000 the first commercial wines were produced. The business includes the Winery, Cellar Door, Vineyard and accommodation.

The Winery, built in 2006 has a tank capacity of 50,000 litres and a 40 barrel capacity for wines and an 8 barrel capacity for fortified wines. It includes a fully closed area, laboratory, tanks, cold room, barrel and bottle storage and extra office and storage space.

The Cellar Door is open plan for up to 120 people with the availability to hold specialized wine presentation events for small to large groups in an attractive outdoor setting watching the sunset or indoors around two large fireplaces and large picture windows overlooking the vineyard. There are large bottle displays, storage, office, kitchen area and toilet facilities. Extra space is enjoyed in "La Cave", reminiscent of a European cellar with up to 12,000 wine bottles climatically controlled. Here is a great haven for private events and smaller groups to enjoy! All furniture and catering equipment is included in the sale.

There are currently 3 major annual events here, being the Harvest Festival in April, Winter Solstice Celebration in June, and The Spring Event in October.

The 230 Wine Club Members are able to experience the winery's highly modern and sophisticated software program with a unified data hub allowing them to use their own portal to log in. This program also runs the major website, on line shop and point of sale as well as reporting and inventory.

The 5 hectare vineyard holds 10,000 vines on established fencing and can produce up to 25 tonnes of grapes. There are three dams, two receive overland flow, one of which is also spring fed. The spring fed dam flows to a turkey nest dam using a solar powered pump for efficient water harvesting and storage. There is also a bore and a pond fed by storm runoff. All the vineyard is irrigated via drip lines from an irrigation dam. The total dam water capacity is 5 megalitres. Water tank storage is approx. 65,000 litres.

The vineyard is netted for bird control and the owners continually conduct a strict spray and nutritional program to minimize the use of synthetic compounds.

White Wine Varieties: Verdelho, Chardonnay, Marsanne, Viognier and Albarino

Red Wine Varieties: Grenache, Merlot, Malbec, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Tannat, Tempranillo, Monastrell and Isabella.

Machinery and Equipment: a comprehensive list of these is available on request. All items are in constant use, regularly maintained and are included in the sale price.

Accommodation comprises of a furnished 4 bedroom farmhouse with a bathroom, a large kitchen/dining area, separate lounge and a sunroom. This can be used as a rental investment or as an owner residence.
