Mpowerdome is Canberra's largest multi-purpose indoor sports facility and recreation centre located at 56 Coyne Street, Fadden since 2006.
The building is approximately 156m long, 38m wide and 13m high and is the largest structure of its type in Australia and Australasia. The Mpowerdome sits on a block in excess of 1.3 hectares, and includes car parking facilities.
The dome's construction consists of large extruded aluminum portal frames with tensioned PVC fabric providing all-weather protection of the sports surfaces within.
The architectural challenge for the dome was to deliver a cost effective and light weight structure over the courts that would adapt well to seasonal change.The PVC fabric allows diffused sunlight during the day and provides a reflective surface for illumination of sports surfaces from specialised light fittings during night time use.
The interior design effect is achieved by using strong defining colours on the more conventional curved and rectilinear elements within the large volume (walls, stairs, grilles and counters) while allowing the overarching multi-curved membrane to be light, translucent and more amorphous in character.
Sports courts at Mpowerdome have catered for indoor cricket, soccer, netball, tennis, AFL, touch football, floorball and fitness classes, and facilities such as community venues for hire, a cafe and lounge as well as massage and beauty therapy options.  Mpowerdome could be a perfect venue for boot camps, gymkhanas and racing.
