Gold Coast property with custom-made basketball court hits the market

A sporty family will score a slam dunk with this glossy new riverfront home, which has an outdoor zone that has to be seen to be believed.

The Gold Coast property’s soaring central courtyard is occupied entirely by a custom-made basketball court.

The unusual attribute – unmissable from every room at 25 The Boulevarde in Benowa – has attracted attention from potential buyers who have moved to Australia from the US, the agent says.

The professional-grade half-court is visible from most rooms.

Several main rooms in the 443-square-metre, four-bedroom house face the professional-grade half-court, graced by a leaping Michael Jordan motif.

At 70 square metres, the court is larger than many one-bedroom apartments.

No expense was spared, from the Goalrilla hoop, which features heavy-duty components used in professional leagues, to the black and grey sports matting, providing a soft landing during intense competition.

The property has an al fresco area with a Vergola roof that overlooks a saltwater pool.

On the ground floor, the living room, home office and main hallway wrap around the court, providing a view of every three-pointer.

On the upper level, the hall, main bedroom, retreat and walk-in wardrobe of the third bedroom look down over the spectacle.

The double-height of the home, surrounding the court, lends a stadium feel.

'It's certainly a very rare feature,' agent Rebecca Wiggins says.

Rebecca Wiggins of Ray White Malan and Co in Broadbeach has been showing astonished buyers around the newly completed property in the exclusive, gated Royal Pines Resort.

“On the Gold Coast, we have some truly spectacular homes, and this is one of them,” Wiggins says.

“There are many that have really cool features. But, of course, the basketball court is exceptional. There are a lot of homes up here that have tennis courts, but the new builds all seem to be moving to basketball courts or pickleball courts.

“It’s certainly a very rare feature, being in the centre of the house. You can see it from every room. My open homes have been extremely busy, that’s for sure.”

'Families have been looking at it purely because of the scale and size of the home.'

Teenagers are not typically known for having an interest in real estate, but a family who recently viewed it told Wiggins that their teenage son had found the listing and wanted to walk through.

Another family who have just moved to the Gold Coast from the US have also done an inspection.

“Families have been looking at it purely because of the scale and size of the home, but the basketball court is a big drawcard with the kids,” Wiggins says.

“One of the people that I took through over the weekend said her son had found the house online and insisted that they come and have a look at it.

“There are many families on the Gold Coast who are after a little bit more security and being in a gated estate is an added bonus.”

The home of the Gold Coast Suns AFL team, People First Stadium, is across the river.

Parents will appreciate the plush bedrooms, which all have en suites. The main has a five-metre walk-in wardrobe and a luxurious soaking tub.

Beyond the super-cool basketball court is a saltwater swimming pool, framed by a waterfront terrace and rich lawns.

The home takes advantage of its 15-metre Nerang River frontage, providing an al fresco area with a Vergola roof, bar fridge and built-in barbecue, for long, warm evenings by the water.
