Most living rooms make a showpiece of a sofa or a coffee table, but this one has a “sky garage” and indoor parking for two luxury cars.

The dazzling feature is said to be the only one of its kind in the southern hemisphere.

The level 10 apartment at 613 St Kilda Road in Melbourne is on the market, seeking offers above $5.98 million.

At the centre of the lavish set-up is the glass-encased garage that sits next to the lounge.

“Actually move your cars into your living room,” the listing, on the books of H & L Frederick Property, says.

“A sky garage, one of only two globally, brings your machine to rest beside your living room, both bathed in morning light and a silver horizon.”

The marketing for the flashy pad, in the Neue Grand complex, describes it as a “sculptural shell of stone, light and air”.

A riser brings the vehicles from basement level to the 335-square-metre apartment in the clouds, and a sliding mechanism designed by German engineers moves the cars perfectly into place.

Residents are brought up to their floor in a separate lift. Every apartment has its own lobby, akin to a five-star hotel.

Raised ceilings are edged in soft lights, balanced by a gentle palette of stone and timber. A sleek stone hearth in the living room houses a fireplace that hovers over wide-plank timber floors.

The marble-clad kitchen has a wine fridge and a colossal butlers’ pantry, while a plush study complements the spacious three-bedroom, three-bathroom layout.

Neue Grand’s parking system is unique to Australia and has few rivals overseas.

The sumptuous 20-floor apartment complex has only 17 residences and a “triplex penthouse”.

Full-floor apartments started at $5.5 million.

For the design, architects from Rothelowman interpreted the “kinetics” of a car in the shape and finish of the “crystalline” glass tower, formed by tapered, silver blades.

The building is located across the road from Albert Park Lake, which, fittingly, for a property so closely aligned with cars, is the circuit for the annual Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Agents Fred Lui and Cassie Gu are managing the listing and booking inspections by appointment.
