Kitchens are typically known as the most difficult rooms to create on The Block, with the power to make or break a sale. And this season will be no different.
Norm and Jess’s kitchen will have a marble island bench as its centrepiece, Bianca and Carla’s focus is to be on a concrete benchtop, and all teams have dedicated a sizeable space to the inclusion of a butler’s pantry.
So, while the teams race towards Sunday night’s reveal, let’s go back and look at some of the best kitchens ever created on the show.
Josh and Elyse took a risk reorientating their kitchen towards the garden in last year’s season of The Block, but it paid dividends come judgement day, with Neale Whitaker commending the couple on the “very sociable” nature of their zone. Shaynna Blaze also loved how the kitchen was “very engaged with the living and dining room”.
All three judges awarded the couple a perfect score for how they created flow between the living room, dining room and kitchen.

Dan and Carleen’s 2016 kitchen in season 12 was so admired by the judges, it was voted the best room in Block history in 2017.
Of 480 rooms in 13 seasons, it was the timeless nature of the kitchen that the judges adored, they said, with Darren Palmer gushing that he “loved everything” about it.

While Dan and Carleen were awarded the best-ever room on The Block, Will and Karlie weren’t far behind, with their kitchen in the same season deemed the second-best room ever produced in the show’s history.
Shaynna Blaze loved their black-on-black cabinetry. The couple were given a perfect score on judging day, with Blaze claiming it was a kitchen she could happily live in.

Season 12 of The Block certainly produced some memorable kitchens, with Julia and Sasha joining the list. This luxurious kitchen also earned a perfect score, although it wasn’t part of their apartment. Instead, it was produced for a “challenge” apartment across the hall.
But while they could not rely on this kitchen come auction day, it was still awarded the fourth-best room ever created on The Block, coming in as the third-best kitchen ever created.

When The Block judges made their way into Michael and Carlene’s kitchen in season nine they noted the room’s “immediate impact”.
The contrast between the matte black cabinetry and the stone benchtop was a winner with the judges at the time. Shaynna Blaze deemed the thoughtful layout of the zone as “brilliant”.
