The Tweed Heads South renovated home that ticks '10 out 10 boxes'

From an unremarkable family home to a haven that ticks “10 out 10 boxes” for buyers, The Lakehouse is one of the Northern Rivers’ best transformations – and it’s now on the market.

The home at 7 Lakeview Parade, Tweed Heads South, on Terranora Creek, is unrecognisable from years gone by.

Photographs from the 2016 sales campaign show a tired timber kitchen with a sage-green laminate bench, dark timber-strapped ceilings and raw red bricks.

Since then, vendors Druen and Natasha Dorn, the founders of Dorn Developments, worked their magic on the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home.

Once sombre, now luminous, the property has endless water and bushland views. Its breezy size and sense of space leave prospective buyers mesmerised, says listing agent Owen Fredericks of Image Property NSW.

“A property might tick five or six out of 10 boxes, and then you get to this property and it’s ticking 10 out of 10 boxes,” he says. “There’s nothing to do. You walk in, unpack and enjoy.”

The first time Fredericks visited the property, the crisp facade and meticulous street presence promised something special. “I just had this feeling of, ‘Wow, this is going to be an absolute showstopper,’” he says.

The quality of the renovation is unmistakable. “They’ve left no stone unturned,” Fredericks says. “Every single detail of the property is of the highest quality.”

A roll-call of highlights includes Bosch appliances, ABI tapware, smart-home integration, and material choices that marry with Mother Nature.

“It’s Australian coastal chic,” Fredericks says, noting that elements of classic Hamptons style also shine through.

The vendors worked with the existing bones of the house to enhance the areas that were already there, but were masked by dated decor and interiors.

“Luckily, this was already a large home, and what they were able to create within are the perfect sorts of spaces,” Fredericks says.

A self-contained studio with a bathroom and a kitchenette provides options – teen retreat, granny flat, home office or additional rental income.

The vendors worked with the existing bones of the property and enhanced what was already there.

“The space, size and functionality of the floor plan are quite rare,” Fredericks says. “The high ceilings and exposed rafters provide a huge emotional factor.

“Anyone who visits the property says, ‘Wow, that looks amazing.’ As you’re sitting in the living room, you’re looking out to wildlife and beautiful water views.”

The agent says buyers who have been priced out of Tweed Heads are discovering Tweed Heads South and “are just starting to see amazing value”.

The median house price in Tweed Heads is $1.3 million, according to the latest Domain House Price Report, compared to $875,000 in Tweed Heads South.

The Lakehouse is for sale via an expressions-of-interest campaign that closes on December 8. Inspections by appointment.
