From a simple coffee shop in Thailand to a glittering opera house in Hamburg and the Palace of Versailles in France, these are the winners in the annual ArchDaily Building of the Year awards.

More than 75,000 readers voted in the awards, filtering more than 3000 projects down to just 16 category winners.

The winners are a diverse range of projects from across the world, but what they all have in common is an especially innovative design response.

Winners of the ArchDaily Best Building of the Year Award include the Stealth Building in New York, by WORKac, which won the Refurbishment Award.
