A swish family home disguising not one but two major secrets has hit the market in Victoria’s Gippsland region.

A hidden door in the dining room leads to a private passage to the main bedroom suite.

Blink and you might miss another surreptitious door, this time in the hallway, which opens unexpectedly to a plush cinema room.

The concealed rooms were designed as retreats and added by the vendors of 33 Waratah Drive, Warragul.

The home is on the market with expectations of $2.35 million, and the listing lets buyers in on its secrets.

A repected local builder created the four-bedroom house for the original owners.

It sits on an 826-square-metre block that backs onto the Warragul Country Club. The new owner will have private rear access to the club, which has an 18-hole course and a clubhouse with a bistro and bar.

The buyer can zip out of their shed on a private buggy and dash directly across the green fairways.

Agent Anthony Rabl of RW Property Group says the hidden door to the main bedroom, which also has additional lounge space, was created to provide speedy access for parents or visiting family.

“It’s for if they wanted to ever just shoot away quickly,” he says. “They have that little walkway through to their own living area, master bedroom and en suite.”

The dad designed the movie room.

“He wanted his little area,” Rabl says. “It can still open up, but it is hidden away so that it’s not obvious that there’s a room there.”

The size, scope and finishes of the home have impressed prospective buyers, he says.

“It is great for entertaining and is family friendly, but because of the design, it also allows your own space within the home,” Rabl says.

Rabl has noted a changing demographic in Warragul, as Melburnians increasingly come to town.

“I have always said we’ll be one of the fastest growing areas, and we have definitely seen that over the last five years,” he says.

The median house price in Warragul, according to the latest Domain data, is $640,000, a rise of 34.7 per cent over five years and 3 per cent over 12 months.

Rabl is handling the listing alongside colleague Abbey Fisher.
