As one of the most expensive suburbs, not just in the United Kingdom but on earth, Knightsbridge property never comes cheap.
Or at least we thought it didn’t. But that was before we came across this residence in the heart of Knightsbridge, literally across the street from iconic shopping destination Harrods.
Situated on Brompton Road, smack bang in the middle of the platinum postcode, this “self-contained flat” is listed for sale with a meagre asking price of just £175,000 ($305,000).
That seems like an unbelievably good deal. However, the more astute among you may well be waiting for a but.
And, sadly, there is a but to this place, and it’s a big one.
There’s no toilet.
This seems like a pretty glaring issue, because, when it comes down to it, isn’t a private toilet the only thing you really need to call a place home?
Chef’s kitchens, walk-in robes, studies, pool rooms, home theatres … we can go without them all, but a functioning lavatory is essential.
The lack of a loo isn’t this abode’s only sin, though.
Judging from the floor plan and seller Knight Frank’s description, the single room doesn’t appear to have any amenities, bathroom, kitchen or otherwise.
It apparently presents as a “blank canvas in shell condition” and “can easily be fitted out to the purchaser’s taste”.
Assuming the purchaser has a taste for wanting their own toilet, the veritable studio still leaves a lot to be desired.
The whole “flat” is just 3.3 metres wide by 2.6 metres long, meaning it’s a very, very small space to call home.
