New technology has dramatically changed the way consumers approach property, but according to futurist and business technologist Steve Sammartino it can’t replace the human connections that drive the industry.

It’s one of the themes that will be discussed at the inaugural Allhomes Industry Summit on Wednesday.

Mr Sammartino is one of six speakers set to lead discussions on marketing, technology and goal setting at the inaugural summit.

The all-day event will bring together more than 300 members of the Canberra real estate industry.

“I’ll be talking about not just disruptions, but a whole lot of new philosophies that allow human connections from technology,” Mr Sammartino said.

“Everything we see around us are new ways that humans can connect. The companies that are doing well don’t change human behaviour, they’re leveraging existing human behaviour patterns.”

Mr Sammartino said information that was once in the hands of real estate agents is now publicly accessible. However, he said this should be embraced by the industry.

“The thing that people want more than ever is an expert to hold their hand,” Mr Sammartino said.

“Honesty, transparency and all of those human elements are more important than ever.”

High performance real estate coach John Phegan and Olympic gold medalist rower Kim Brennan are among the other speakers.

The morning sessions will be focused on property management, before moving onto sales in the afternoon.

In the evening, Canberra’s auctioneers will vie for the title of Allhomes Charity Auctioneer of the Year 2017, with all proceeds going to Communities@Work.

The summit will be held at Pialligo Estate. For more information, visit www.allhomes.com.au/allhomessummit/
