The successful auction of a modern home in Ngunnawal will see a mother and daughter reunited on the same street.

A crowd of more than 50 people gathered in the usually peaceful Deumonga Court to watch No.5 sell for $535,000.

The home attracted strong interest during the marketing campaign, according to LJ Hooker Gungahlin agent Carly Clough.

“The home was definitely unique to the area,” Ms Clough said. “It had a lot of the things that people are looking for in a home, but it was set out a bit differently, which made it more personal to buyers.”

The three-bedroom home featured a split-level design, with a modern kitchen stepping down into a light-filled family room embraced by a wraparound deck.

A bold colour scheme punctuated with red accents also set the house apart.

Eight parties registered to bid for the home and there were three active bidders. The spirited bidding quickly became a competition between two parties before the gavel fell on $535,000.

“The buyer was bidding on behalf of her mum from Queensland,” Ms Clough said. “She also lived on the street, so the heartstrings were pulled.”

Buyers also sought character homes south of the lake, where a Federation-inspired property sold for $786,000 at 18 Bungonia Street, Narrabundah.

Filled with period features, the home offered a country-style timber kitchen, picture windows and a charming weatherboard facade.

Belle Property Kingston agent Dan McAlpine said the strong result was testament to the character and the feel of the property.

Four of the five registered parties placed a bid on the property, with a young couple securing the home.

“They were wanting to move into the area and they bought it as a family home,” Mr McAlpine said. “They had been through a couple of times and were thrilled.”

The clearance rate of 65.7 per cent was a improvement on last week’s 53 per cent, according to Domain Group data.

Just two homes cracked the million-dollar mark, one a grand five-bedroom home at 50 Sue Geh Circuit in Nicholls.

The property sold for $1,190,000 through McGrath Estate Agents Gungahlin and was the biggest sale of the day.
