The Australian Property Institute ACT honoured its standout performers at the 10th annual Excellence in Property Awards on Wednesday.

Local development company Crafted was one of the evening’s big winners, receiving the property development award for Kingston Foreshore project The Prince.

Positioned on the corner of Eyre Street and Honeysett View, the 150-unit development was designed by award-winning firm Architectus to achieve an EER of 7.3 stars.

API ACT president Greg Cummins hosted the event and said while several residential developments were completed this year, The Prince was a standout.

“There are so many developments that are cookie-cutter, but The Prince was very different,” he said.

Mr Cummins said The Prince’s high-quality finishes and well-considered energy efficiency measures also contributed to the development’s success.

Richard Swinbourne picked up the property industry award, given to an individual or team for their leadership qualities and contribution to the property industry.

Mr Swinbourne has been a valuation professional for 45 years and established boutique property consultancy and valuation business Capital Valuers in 2007.

“Richard has had every position on the [API] board in the ACT,” Mr Cummins said. “He’s the go-to person for every problem and has acted as a mentor for a lot of people.”

The ceremony also recognised newer members of the industry, with Knight Frank’s Rebecca Jakubaszek taking out the young achiever of the year award.

Mr Cummins said Ms Jakubaszek has had various jobs in the industry, from receptionist to senior property manager.

“She’s actively involved in a number of committees and charity events and she’s got a long, illustrious career ahead of her,” Mr Cummins said.

Griffin Legal’s Carina Zeccola was also recognised in the young achiever category, receiving a certificate of commendation.

The event was held at the Lobby Restaurant in Parkes and attended by MLAs Alistair Coe and Mick Gentleman.
