Even before the hammers fall on multimillion-dollar homes on The Block auction day, there are riches to be had.

Throughout every season, teams have a chance to bolster their hard work with lucrative prizes. Most coveted are the ones that give them the edge over their competition.

From cars to caravans and cash, these can be the difference between a stellar sale and a nail-biting flop.

Some bounties over the years, from generous sponsors, have been worth up to a quarter of a million dollars. This year, a $260,000 Titanium caravan is the most expensive prize offered on the show.

These are some of the most jaw-dropping prizes in Block history.

Omar and Oz’s $250,000 kitchen upgrade

The mates from Western Sydney won the 2022 Gisborne season, but long before the finale, they cemented pole position with a high-end boost to their kitchen.

They decked out their sleek, moody-toned kitchen with $250,000 of appliances, including selections from V-Zug supplied by Winnings Appliances. Despite the flashy additions, the boys were praised for not straying into bling territory. Judge Shaynna Blaze called the sophisticated space an “entertainer’s paradise”.

Married WA police officers Britt and Taz scooped the kitchen appliance prize on this year’s Daylesford season. E&S supplied the couple with $175,000 worth of appliances. Their Sub-Zero fridge alone is worth $40,000 in cold, hard cash.

Gold Coast parents Sonny and Alicia have one heck of a bonus parked in the driveway of House 4 – the most expensive prize in the long history of The Block

“We couldn’t be more proud of each other,” Sonny said in an Instagram video, as they showed off the plush, $260,000 Titanium caravan they won in a hard-fought Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa challenge.

The upmarket caravan will be sold with their property – a significant lifestyle bonus that sets their listing apart.

Australians took 15.2 million caravan and camping trips last year, according to Tourism Australia data, so the Titanium will likely tickle the fancy of a buyer with dreams of road tripping (and a beautiful Block house to come home to).

Ricky and Haydn’s $50,000 Domain Buyers Jury purse

This is arguably the most important prize of all, as it gauges the market and gives the teams direction ahead of the auctions.

Prospective buyers tour the houses, as they would a typical open home, and vote on their favourite.

The annual challenge certainly applies the pressure, inviting renowned buyers’ agents, along with Domain national property editor Alice Stolz, to cast their expert eye.

Victorian best buds Ricky and Haydn won the Domain Buyers Jury in Phillip Island last year, capturing 29 per cent of the vote. They collected the money and also scored one-on-one time with Stolz and host Shelley Craft to refine their property.

Leah and Ash’s $80,000 Ford Mustang Mach-E

The luxury car was gifted to the winner of Front Garden and Facade Week in the Hampton East season in 2023.

The prize marked the final week of judging, and every team wanted it to cap 12 weeks of hard work.

Street presence and landscaping were adjudicated by guest judge and green thumb, Dave Franklin.

Brisbane parents Leah and Ash rented a vintage Mustang, parked in their driveway, to complement a one-of-a-kind fence, soaring timber battens and lush greenery, which softened the harder materials.

The judges agreed it was a compelling package. They beat their competition by half a point and cruised back to House 2 in a purring Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV worth $80,000.

Kristian and Mimi’s $50,0000 off reserve

It’s a thrill to secure prizes during the arduous, three-month build.

However, given the season winner is determined by how much over reserve their property sells for, when the chips are down – and the chippies have gone home – this is the prize that counts.

Last year, Kristian and Mimi won the right to have $50,000 shaved off their reserve price.

It was one of the most significant prizes ever offered on The Block, and was to be given to the team who won their Clubhouse area in the private Phillip Island resort.

Kristian and Mimi produced a cinema room, choosing walnut joinery with rattan touches, ambient-lit feature arches, and soothing textures and tones, all tucked behind secret doors

If the judges could have given the room an Oscar, they would have. Marty Fox called it “one of the best rooms I’ve ever seen, period”.
