With The Block auctions just a few days away and the potential to win a life-changing sum of money on the line, the contestants are making their last-ditch efforts to whip up excitement.

From a baby announcement to a celebrity endorsement, the teams are generating a buzz online in the lead up to the season finale.

The five Daylesford homes will all go under the hammer this weekend with price guides between $3 million and $3.3 million.

There are few sales in Daylesford in this price bracket, which is four times the town’s median house price. This has fuelled speculation the properties may struggle to sell under the hammer and the grand finale may not be so … well, grand.

So, it’s little surprise the teams are coming up with novel ways to boost publicity and increase their chances.

This week, Australian singer and musical sensation G Flip appeared in a video posted on Instagram declaring House 2 “an absolute banger”.

“Shout out to the queer queens Han and Can,” G Flip exclaims in the clip before signing off with a very Aussie “yeeewww”.

Meanwhile, billionaire Adrian Portelli has been making appearances at Emma and Ben‘s House 1. Alongside Aaron Hill and the Ray White Sunbury team, Portelli has appeared in several social media posts filmed in Daylesford.

Portelli has previously bought many Block properties, including all five houses last year, but has declared he will not be purchasing any more this year. Though these recent social media posts cast doubt on that claim.

This week House 5’s Mat revealed he was going to be a father in an article for New Idea. He also posted a video to Instagram in which he announces the news to his family.

The 41-year-old will be co-parenting a baby boy, due in December, with his close friend Leah Cocks.

After a round of IVF, Cocks learned she was pregnant while Mat was away filming for The Block. She waited until he returned home to Adelaide and booked an appointment with him at his hairdressing salon to give him the good news.

Things seem quiet on the social media front for House 3 and House 4, but there’s still time for that to change. Keep your eyes peeled.

The Block finale will be aired on Channel Nine on Sunday, October 26.
