In the world of property journalism, we tend to spend day in day out looking at buildings.

There’s days of crunching mortgage figures, attending a few auctions here and there and sometimes we get to write about weird bubble homes.

And then there are the stories that comes along about bored people at work photoshopping buildings onto the heads of celebrities and waiting for the internet to respond.

And if this doesn’t scream breaking property news, I just don’t know what does.

On Thursday afternoon a seemingly innocent Tweet from Sydney PhD student and funnyman David Cunningham was released onto the interwebs.

Just two words, a virgin hashtag and a cute picture of Bert Newton.

The thing is, in this picture Bert is wearing a Yurt.

After a few witty photoshop jobs from Cunningham, the game caught on.

All you need is a celebrity with a name that sounds like a building and off you go.

Things soon turned topical and political.

Shed Cruz and Tony Windsor Castle both made an appearance.

And how timely to have Peta Kremlin.

After a few hours, Cunningham’s dream was realised when #celebrityhousehats started trending on Twitter.

Personally I think this one is the best.

I will leave you to think about that.
