Bronte Place undergoes chic makeover

Rag-trader-turned-property-developer Danny Avidan sees parallels between preparing his latest luxury boutique apartment project and putting the finishing touches on a fashion collection.

“You work on the interior and the design and selecting the furniture for the display suite, every intricate detail,” he says. “It’s like accessorising and choosing fabric and putting together a collection. This is just another expression of creativity.”

In the case of Bronte Place, a 21-apartment development where the Bronte RSL once stood, his creative bent is decidedly high-end.

However, Avidan, who used to own the fashion labels Charlie Brown and Howard Showers before turning his hand to prestige residential developments, says the luxury finishes are more “understated chic” than in-your-face bling.

“It’s going to be a very high-end development using amazing materials, from marble to brick veneer to hand-carved parquetry. But at the same time, it’s not going to be ostentatious. There will be no glitz or diamonds or gold plates.”

The RDA Property Group project, with architecture by Aleksandar Design Group and interiors by SJB Interior Design, features 21 apartments over three storeys, in addition to ground-floor retail space for cafes and restaurants. A previous owner’s controversial push for a supermarket was scrapped.

Avidan says the size of the apartments – up to 134 square metres for the three-bedders – contributes to the premium atmosphere.

Bronte is serviced by buses.  Bronte Place is about seven kilometres from the CBD and a 10-minute walk to Bronte beach.

An on-site display suite is due to open on October 22, ahead of the October 29 sales launch.

Bondi Junction is a garden of eden of sorts, with temptations aplenty at the local Westfield. This particular Eden, however, was named after Ben Eden Street – Ben Eden being the name of one of the neighbourhood’s oldest mansions. The modern-day Eden features 42 apartments split between two four-storey buildings designed by Nicholas Tang Architects, for Parker Logan Properties.

Eight apartments from the first stage of the sales release remain for sale, and should be ready to occupy by the end of this year. A further 14 apartments are to be released this weekend in the second stage of the launch. An on-site display suite is open on Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 4pm.

Speaking of temptations, a new apartment development in Rose Bay is irresistibly close to famed seafood restaurant Catalina. Seaton is just across the road from the waterfront dining spot and boasts views over New South Head Road and Lyne Park to the harbour. The boutique development of six apartments, designed by MHN Design Union for Multipart Property,  should appeal to downsizers, investors, executive buyers and families looking for garden apartments. Less than six kilometres from the CBD, Seaton is close to bus stops and schools including Cranbrook, The Scots College, Kambala and the Royal Sydney Golf Club. The apartments are on the market now.
