Canberra auctions: Interest rate drop sparks solid sales

The recent interest rate cut has helped push some strong sales this weekend, with buyers active across the board.

Lisa Silberberg from The Property Collective said the agency’s auction of the four-bedroom townhouse at 12 Neil Currie Street, Casey, attracted four registered bidders and sold for $868,000.

Silberberg said all the bidders were young families, and the successful buyers were upsizers looking for a property they could simply move into and enjoy.

Ideally positioned near Gold Creek High School, primary schools and an array of shopping centres, the beautifully designed home sits on its own title and offers four bedrooms, separate living spaces, a well-appointed kitchen, two bathrooms and a double garage.

In Rivett, Tim and Justine Burke from Luton Properties sold the three-bedroom house at 29 Hibiscus Crescent for $900,000 to a buyer who had inspected the property for the first time on Saturday.

Situated on a 718-square-metre block, the updated house is just a short walk from the local shops and oval, and offers living, dining and family spaces, a renovated bathroom and a three-car carport plus garage.

The agents also sold the original three-bedroom house at 3 Tobin Place, Holder, at auction for $815,000.

Tim Burke said the property was virtually unliveable and sold to a young tradie who was a first-home buyer.

In Whitlam, Rahul Mehta from Altair Property passed in the stunning four-bedroom, four-bathroom house at 21 Danaher Street.

Mehta said two or three buyers were interested in the property, and it was expected to sell for more than $1.9 million.

Set on an elevated 504-square-metre site, the impressive 385-square-metre house features sweeping views, expansive formal and casual living areas, a stunning kitchen with a butler’s pantry, luxury finishes and fittings throughout, plus a double garage.

Hayman Partners’ Anthony McCormack and Alex Addison passed in the well-presented house at 5 Griffith Place, Kambah, which is now for sale at around $700,000.

Located in a peaceful, family-friendly street, the single-level home features new fencing, freshly painted interiors and new carpets.

There were few properties offered mid-week, but those that did sell included the charming three-bedroom duplex at 3 Vaughan Gardens, Narrabundah, which sold for $1.315 million through Bastion Property Group’s David Stokes.

In Kambah, The Property Collective’s Obi Shadmaan sold the three-bedroom house at 12 Ormerod Place for an undisclosed price.
