Canberra continued its strong auction momentum over the weekend, with family homes and renovators’ delights across many price points finding buyers amid competitive bidding.
In Gowrie, Steph Hoss from Purnell sold the fully updated four-bedroom house at 6 Keysor Place under the hammer for $1,157,500.
Hoss said the property attracted three registered bidders and a cheeky opening offer of $900,000. The successful buyer was a young couple wanting to be closer to friends.
Situated in a quiet cul-de-sac near shops and schools, the stylishly presented house provides a spacious floor plan with open-plan living and dining areas flowing to a well-appointed kitchen, a main bedroom with en suite, a family bathroom, a north-facing al fresco area with kitchen, and a double garage.
In Queanbeyan, Momentum Property’s Michael Martin sold the well-preserved two-bedroom house at 74 Ross Road at its reserve price of $620,000. There had been three registered bidders.
“It’s a unique property with an original house full of character with high ceilings, and a large back yard offering plenty of potential,” he said. “The buyers were a mum and dad purchasing for their daughter.”
Set on a 702-square-metre block near Riverside Plaza, schools and Queanbeyan District Hospital, the home has separate living and dining spaces featuring mountain views, a study, an updated bathroom and a carport.

In Weetangera, despite having two registered bidders, The Property Collective’s Amy Wilson passed in the expansive four-bedroom house at 29 Kinleyside Crescent.
She said she was hopeful for a sale this weekend, with the property expected to sell for more than $1.3 million.
Tucked away in one of Weetangera’s most tightly held streets and set on a substantial block of 1202 square metres with RZ2 zoning, the tastefully presented house offers well-proportioned accommodation including living and dining rooms, a kitchen with meals area, a study, two bathrooms, a home gym, a garage and a carport.
Solid results were recorded at midweek auctions, with The Property Collective selling the four-bedder with in-ground pool at 110 Darwinia Terrace, Chapman, prior to auction for $1.1 million, while Bastion Property Group sold the two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment at 8/103 Canberra Avenue, Griffith, for $540,000.
Clearance rates continue to strengthen, with last week’s 61 per cent well above the paltry 41 per cent at the same time last year. Of the 126 auctions scheduled last weekend, 115 were reported with 70 sold, nine withdrawn and 31 passed in.
