Buyers were out in force at Canberra auctions this week, with strong results recorded across the board, from lifestyle estates to first-home favourites and high-end apartments.
The depth of demand reflected a confident market, with properties attracting solid interest and competitive bidding across all price points.
The Property Collective’s Jacob Stanton sold the impressive five-bedroom house at 20 James Scott Close, Kambah, for an undisclosed price, understood to be around $1.6 million, yesterday.
The sale attracted three registered bidders, he said, and it was bought by “a young family looking for a lifestyle upgrade”.
The commanding home sits on an elevated 1225-square-metre corner site in the prized Gleneagles estate – one of Canberra’s most tightly held pockets – and features views to the Brindabella Ranges.
It is luxuriously appointed, with multiple living zones, a chef’s kitchen, a study, a main-bedroom suite with spa, a solar-heated pool, a tennis court and a double garage with a workshop.
First-home buyers were also out in force this weekend, and the meticulously presented three-bedroom house at 32 Wellesley Street, Amaroo, was snapped up for $855,000.
Stone Gungahlin’s Kris Hellier said there had been strong interest in the property, with five registered parties on the day.
On a low-maintenance site of 494 square metres near the town centre, schools and parks, the thoughtfully designed house features two living areas, a contemporary kitchen, two bathrooms, a deck and a garage.
A significant sale has raised the benchmark for apartments in Dickson, with the four-bedroom penthouse at 706/352 Northbourne Avenue changing hands during the week for $1.575 million.
Sold on Wednesday by Tom Wiggins of Hive Property, the two-storey home was purchased by a local buyer upgrading from a smaller two-bedroom apartment.
Located atop the award-winning Kashmir development, the 215-square-metre penthouse features sweeping views of Telstra Tower, interiors by Darren Palmer, and craftsmanship by Art Group and Core Developments.
It includes multiple living areas, a gourmet kitchen with integrated appliances, a custom bar, three bathrooms, underfloor heating, two secure side-by-side car spaces, and access to rooftop amenities.
Other midweek auctions were the one-bedroom apartment at 127/121 Easty Street, Phillip, which sold for $418,000 through Ray White, and the five-bedroom, two-bathroom house at 54 McCormack Street, Curtin, sold by The Property Collective’s Obi Shadmaan for an undisclosed amount.
Clearance rates held steady last weekend at 60 per cent but were still down on the 66 per cent recorded in the same period a year ago. Of the 63 auctions reported, 38 sold, 18 were passed in and five were withdrawn.
