When Mayfair Homes completed its stunning display home, The Curzon, it was named the national display home of 2014 (over $500,000) by the Master Builders Association.
The Wright property, which was designed by the company’s director, Steve Kolak, was praised for its workmanship, quality inclusions and attention to detail.
Mayfair Homes has applied those same principles and to its debut high-density development, The Curzon Apartments, Mr Kolak says.
“Quality, elegance and liveability; affordable excellence in residential homes; a simple concept with extreme detail in execution – this is the story behind Curzon Apartments,” Mr Kolak says.
“It’s the foundation of everything we do at Mayfair Homes. Canberra’s property market deserves to be presented with a quality product. It is my continued vision to offer this to buyers.
“Canberra is a sophisticated market; people can appreciate attention to detail and that’s what we need to provide.”
The high-end features that can be found throughout the original house have been incorporated into the apartments. In-slab heating in the bathrooms and heated towel rails are among the inclusions that you will rarely find in an apartment building.
The development offers a mix of 78 units including one-bedroom, one-bedroom plus study and two-bedroom floor plans. Each includes flexible spaces, high-end finishes and an innovative design.
Mr Kolak says the development reflects the company’s mission – luxury homes with an affordable price tag. Priced from $259,000, they represent exceptional value in this sought-after new suburb.
Wright was the first suburb established in Molonglo Valley and land and property values have exceeded expectations. The Curzon Apartments, situated at the valley’s gateway, are slated as the suburb’s final apartment release.
Cox Architecture developed a design that reflects the grandeur of the location and considers Canberra’s built and natural environment. The firm says Curzon Apartments is the product of deeply focused and aligned collaboration between the client and architecture.
Each apartment features lavish inclusions such as hanging pendant lights, herringbone kitchen splashbacks and Smeg appliances. Every detail has been carefully considered, from the Hansgrohe tapware to the keyless entry, while the quality of the build will ensure that it stands the test of time.
“We’ve decided to go with a low-maintenance precast in different textures,” Mr Kolak says.
The curved balconies are all constructed from precast concrete and feature LED lighting that will illuminate the development with six horizontal bands of changing colour – a striking entrance to the suburb of Wright.
“This is the first time this type of building has been on the drawing board in Molonglo,” Mr Kolak says.
“We’re tying to offer something different and it’s really connecting and resonating with the marketplace.”

Monica Sirel, above, looked at a lot of developments when she was choosing her first home, but it was the Curzon Apartments’ quality, floor plan and location that ticked all the boxes.
Surrounded by mountains, rivers and reserve, Wright was an easy choice for the nature lover, who is looking forward to exploring the walking tracks that wind their way around the suburb. However, it was the developer’s commitment to quality and the ease of the process that had her signing up at Curzon.
“I loved the display suite and the fact that you could walk in and look at a finished product,” Ms Sirel says.
Ms Sirel had also visited the award-winning Curzon display house and was able to see the workmanship that went into a Mayfair Homes development.
“It really opened my eyes to the details that go into the home,” she says.
“I know that this unit will be perfect and the Curzon Apartments will stand out in Wright.”
Ms Sirel has purchased a two-bedroom ground floor apartment with a courtyard and balcony. She loves the spacious open-plan design and that she will be able to personalise the courtyard.
As for the interior inclusions, Ms Sirel says there is nothing she would change.
“It’s very modern and it includes a lot of new technology; it’s really gone beyond what you usually see,” she says.
