A day in Meroo Meadow: What to do in this Shoalhaven suburb

I’m sure most Canberrans have briefly dreamt of packing up and heading east to our more temperate neighbours on the South Coast.

If you are like me, however, the chaos of the summertime tourist season can be a bit of a put-off. May I introduce to you the solution: Meroo Meadow.

Nestled between the Shoalhaven River and the historic town of Berry, this quaint little village captures all the charm of the 2540 region in a small-town package.

Eat & drink

It is no secret that the Shoalhaven Region is home to some incredible wineries, and the area surrounding Meroo Meadow is no exception.

Silos Estate Berry is just one of several stunning cellar doors within a couple of kilometres of Meroo Meadow.

Boasting close to five hectares of vineyard, a delightful tasting menu and a host of huacaya alpacas that guests can visit and feed – Silos Estate is a must-visit.

See & do

For those sporting a Tesla, feel free to use the electric car charging stations at Silos Estate before exploring the rest of this quaint area.

Just over the river from Meroo Meadow lies one of the coolest adventuring destinations in this part of the state.

Calymea offers visitors the chance to participate in activities from camping and fishing to horse-riding, water-skiing and dirt-biking. Guests also are encouraged to explore the nearby Yalwal gold mines by canoe or bike.
