Colour can say a lot about the personality of a home and sets the mood of the rooms – and there are plenty of ways to achieve it.
Aniko Carey of Luton Properties Dickson says the home has made bold, confident choices when it comes to colour.
‘For example, the master bedroom is painted ‘sunshine yellow’ and really conveys that feeling, brightening [the space] and adding a warmth that wraps around you,’ she says.
“The living area is painted in rich, emerald-green tones that bring a level of sophistication and tranquillity to the space – colour can definitely create feeling and contribute towards the character in a home.”
Tim Burke at Luton Properties Weston Creek and Molonglo Valley agrees that bold colour choices can work.
“We sold a home recently with a lime-green feature wall that really resonated with buyers,” he says. “I think that worked because it was an on-trend fashion colour and had been carefully thought through.”
However, Burke says homes in neutral tones tend to appeal to the widest possible market.
“Buyers like to imagine themselves living in a home they’re considering and a blank canvas they can personalise can lead to an offer,” he says.
“Of course, there are many ways to introduce colour into a home without needing it to become a permanent feature.”
Burke says soft furnishings like cushions, throws, rugs, curtains, artworks and even plants can all in inject colour but can be swapped out as trends evolve.
Rutherglen is a small development for over-60s that sits just metres from the Braddon cafe strip and a short walk from the city centre.
That convenient location ensures that any of its townhouses that come to market don’t stay there very long.
No. 6 is a single-level, three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence that enjoys a northern aspect and plenty of sunshine.
Floating timber flooring extends through the living area – a generous, open-plan lounge and dining room with access to a paved outdoor living zone.
The galley-style kitchen offers plenty of bench space and a range of Smeg appliances. Extra light is drawn in through hooded garden windows with clear ceiling panels.
The main bedroom has built-in wardrobes, an en suite and private access to a courtyard. There are two further bedrooms, also with built-in robes, that share a main bathroom.
Comfort is delivered through a gas wall heater and there’s a reverse-cycle air conditioner in the lounge.
The paved outdoor areas deliver low-maintenance living with a brick barbecue forming the centrepiece for entertaining.
There’s easy access to a garage that is fitted with shelving for plenty of storage. With all the attractions on the doorstep, it’s fair to say any car may spend much of its time parked here.
