Make no mistake, buying a property direct from a plan is not a simple experience.
Countless hours are spent researching the developer, architect and builder involved; talking to agents; checking reviews; trawling through building contracts and selecting the perfect residence for your needs and budget.
There will be many times where you wish you could just see the development in its entirety – to walk through the front door of the apartment and decide whether the kitchen bench really can cater to your cooking passion and whether the balcony really is large enough to host dinner parties with friends.
At The Capitol, that wish is made a reality. The 14-storey development finished towards the end of 2019 and still has 12 (of a total of 207) outstanding residences to be snapped up.
“The building was built by Bloc, who are Canberra’s preferred builders, so not only can you trust their work, but you can actually walk in and touch, feel and see the quality of these apartments for yourself,” says agent Rita Feng of Whitcombe Property.
“You can see the larger-than-normal living areas, the engineered timber floors, the marble splashback, the extra high ceilings and the unspoilt views towards Parliament House and Lake Burley Griffin.”
Some of the remaining apartments have been built with upgrades including an integrated double fridge and freezer, a walk-in pantry, and underfloor heating in the bathrooms.
Developed by Crafted and inspired by the streetscapes of New York, The Capitol embodies style and sophistication on London Circuit.
“It’s like living in a five-star New York hotel, except it’s your own special apartment,” says Feng.
The lightbulb-adorned awning at the front entrance of the building hints to the sheer opulence to be found inside. Pass through the revolving doors and you’re greeted with grand, seven-metre high ceilings.
To the right is a new feature, which has received endless praise from current residences – a concierge service.
“It operates Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm and has a cool room and storage room to collect and store things like parcels, groceries or meal box deliveries and dry cleaning,” Feng says.
Coupled with The Capitol’s Wellness Centre, which features state-of-the-art gym equipment, and a sauna, and you’ll almost start believing you’re on a never-ending holiday in a five-star hotel.
That is until it’s time to head to school or work but The Capitol is close to the Australian National University, while the CBD is just a short walk away.
And when evening comes around, it’s back to the holiday-lifestyle because the city’s best bars, pubs and restaurants are conveniently on the journey home.
Take Mezzalira, for example, one of Canberra’s best Italian restaurants, which is across the road from the building.
Molly’s speakeasy off Odgers Lane is just a few steps further – perfect for a quiet after-work drink.
And foodie hot spot No Name Lane is also nearby, offering a smorgasbord of cult-favourite eateries like Baby Su, The Goods Wholefoods and Terra.
“The living style on this side of the city is sensational,” says Feng.
