The Stables at Thoroughbred Park are on the market for $265,000.

If you’re an avid sports fan with a keen interest in horses, take note: the horse stables at Thoroughbred Park have hit the market with an attractive price tag of $265,000.

Affectionately named The Stables, 36 Randwick Road, Lyneham offer buyers a rare opportunity to own a piece of Thoroughbred Park – “not an easy feat”, says listing agent George Southwell of Ray White Rural Canberra and Yass.

“Horse stables are rare in Canberra and when they do come on the market, they’re well contested,” he said.

The property includes 24 horse boxes, two stallion boxes, two tack rooms and 20-day yards used to temporarily hold horses.

“It has excellent training facilities for horses,” Mr Southwell said.

“It has feed rooms, a horse pool, walkers and tracks – everything you need if you’re training a horse.”

While the horses have long gone, the stables offer a bit of nostalgia and provide an abundance of space for the next owners.

Mr Southwell added the ideal buyer would be someone who would take advantage of all the facilities the property had to offer.

“It’s split into two separate complexes and offers buyers an opportunity for two separate incomes should they choose to lease out half the complex.

“It’s a unique opportunity to purchase an agricultural venture or commercial property.”

Mr Southwell said it was a bittersweet sale for the vendors, who had owned The Stables for more than a decade but had to make the heartbreaking decision to give up the property due to recent illness.

“The vendors used to use The Stables to train a number of horses over the years,” he added.

“Now that they’ve decided to sell, they hope the next buyers would love it as much as they did.”
