Why recycle your beer bottles when you can reuse them to build an office?
A graduate architect from the Inner Mongolia University of Science & Technology creatively constructed his workplace from thousands of used beer bottles.
The top level of the two-storey complex was made from 8500 bottles in 40 layers and the bottom floor was built with mud and brick.
It is believed Li Rongjun and his father took more than four months and over 70,000 yuan ($15,300) to construct the office.
China Daily reports that Mr Li plans to launch a design studio that helps people build creative and comfortable houses, and is using his creative office to attract designers and investors.
“I want to build an office which combines artistic beauty with pragmatism,” Mr Li said.
Standing nearly six metres tall, the intriguing building has been described by a neighbour as “radiant” and “prettier at night”.
The building is artistic but a local architect believes it’s not a product to be marketed.
“The top level has no load-bearing wall and the weight the beer bottles could carry is limited, thus the structure may collapse,” Tang Zhe, of a design company in Chongqing, said.
