If you want a cramped shoebox apartment, Moncrieff is not the suburb for you. Homes in Moncrieff are spacious.

At Urbane the 40 two-, three- and four-bedroom townhouses feature open-plan designs with generous touches such as 2.7-metre ceilings and staircases framed by full-height voids.

An Addval Developments spokesperson said that the design focused on liveability and efficiency, seeking to create “usable, clean, regular spaces”.

The interaction between spaces in the homes has been carefully designed and Collins Caddaye Architects’ Tom Caddaye says “the relationship of spaces has been developed to provide outstanding function and enjoyment”.

Urbane’s developer says that buyers will love Moncrieff, which has “been designed around open space and maximising outdoor recreation and lifestyle”.

The suburb’s residents enjoy access to generous open spaces, with parks, playgrounds and walking tracks.

While Moncrieff is on Canberra’s edges, it affords residents easy access to the city’s amenities, being just six minutes’ drive from the Marketplace in Gungahlin and 20 minutes from the city centre.

Its situation on the edge of Canberra means that buyers can expect a bit more for their money. The developer says while Moncrieff is “very sought after” it “still is affordable … in comparison to other new suburbs out there.”

The design brief for homes was modern, but with elements of industrial style, to give it a “timeless feel” according to the developer.

Employing Collins Caddaye Architects, who specialise in high-end homes and boutique design, has allowed Addval Developments to create a premium product by asking the architects to take their skill in house design and apply it to townhouses.

Caddaye says that the classic design is felt throughout the property, right down to the colours used.

“A reduced palette gives the development a controlled and refined appearance,” he says.

Properties face north or north-east, maximising natural light to living areas. Homes feature tiled floors throughout, built-in wardrobes, a master bedroom with ensuite and reverse-cycle airconditioning. The entertainer’s kitchen is large with waterfall benchtops, a ducted range-hood and stainless steel appliances.

Seven of the 40 homes sold within about two weeks of going on the market.
