A cascading design at Polo means homes capture the best of the Molonglo Valley’s beautiful views.
Likewise, a tiered landscaped zone flows east-west along the site, giving Polo a communal heart.
“The key to it is to create simple elegant buildings with a selection of building materials,” says architect Fred Kasparek. “Basically the terraces and the apartments step down the site, which is sympathetic with the steepness of the site.”
The 79 homes come in a range of sizes, to suit a range of needs. One, one plus, two and three-bedroom apartments are available, along with two and three-bedroom townhouses.
Homes enjoy the benefits of a northerly orientation, with spectacular views, living areas and balconies.
A mix of materials and articulated surfaces mean the design is eye-catching.
Fun features such as curved balconies are an unusual architectural element of the apartments, creating a funky aesthetic.
Sitting at the heart of the new Denman Prospect, Polo will be close to the network of paths and trails that make it easy to enjoy the beautiful surrounds of the Molonglo Valley.
High-quality public space sets Denman Prospect apart, says Kasparek, including public art and sculpture and a wealth of parkland.
Polo’s site is conveniently located, overlooking the Denman Prospect shops. Opening in 2018, these shops will offer a range of amenity, including a supermarket, specialty shops, a childcare centre, a medical centre and gym.
“The quality of the shops is very high standard as well, something you’d find in the inner city, not in the suburbs,” Kasparek said.
Despite sitting on the edge of Canberra, Denman Prospect is just 20 minutes from the CBD, the airport and Westfield Woden. Westfield Belconnen is a mere 15-minute drive.
Construction at Polo is expected to begin in April 2018. Completion is estimated for mid-2019.
