Prospective residents at Tuggeranong’s new lakeside development, Southport, will have their first opportunity to visit the new display suite on Saturday.
Views over Lake Tuggeranong and the Brindabella Ranges are just the beginning at Southport.
The complex offers a premium level of recreational and health facilities. The styled pool area with wooden decking offers residents the chance to relax, while panoramic views make a nice addition to a workout in the residents’ gym.
These 353 homes have modern exteriors, designed by Cox Architects, with sleek light-filled interiors. Floor plans have been designed to provide sunlight to interiors and maximise cross ventilation, meaning homes feel like detached houses.
These homes are just a short distance from the Tuggeranong Town Centre’s shops, cafes and restaurants.
These one, two, three and four-bedroom and terrace-style apartments offer excellent inclusions, with stone bench tops, Blanco appliances and floor-to-ceiling tiling in bathrooms.
More than 250 of the 353 units have already sold. They are priced from $250,400 and will be completed by the end of August, with settlement at the end of October.
The display suite is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
Sick of rattling around in their five-bedroom Wanniassa home, Bruce and Christine Gemmell have bought a three-bedroom terrace apartment at Southport in Greenway.
When the last of their six children moved out, Bruce says the pair realised “we were probably using less than half of the house”.
“The whole lot came together in a nice little parcel,” Bruce says.
The onsite amenity, such as the pools, the gym, the viewing deck area and parking appealed to them, as it will mean they are not confined to their unit.
Key for Bruce was the deck area out the front of their home.
“We’re real verandah dwellers,” he says. “I do like sitting out the front watching the world go by.”
Close to the lake, shops and restaurants, while still in the area they know well, Tuggeranong was a top pick for Bruce and Christine.
“We’re not even 100 metres from the lake shore,” Bruce says. He was glad to snag “one of the last” east-facing apartments, meaning their home faces the lake.
Christine is a keen bike rider, who plans to make use of the wealth of paths and trails around the lake and nearby parks, while their 10 grandchildren will enjoy the new children’s playground.
Downsizing offers “a bit of a lifestyle change” according to Bruce and while they made the decision “fairly impulsively” they are “growing into it”.
As their excitement grows, Bruce and Christine have taken to monitoring the process of the build, wandering down to Tuggeranong every few weeks to take a photo. They are due to move in at the end of 2017 and were recently encouraged to note that the scaffolding on the front of their home has been removed.
