David and Lesley Bain have enjoyed watching the world go by from their distinctive townhouse in Turner.

Floor-to-ceiling windows across three levels fill the home with light and open the living area to the simple courtyard garden and established oak trees lining Forbes Street.

“We get the sun filter in the afternoon. The light on the balcony in the afternoon is very good,” David Bain says.

“Our favourite thing to do is sit on the balcony and enjoy the view over Forbes Street and the oak canopies all around us. It’s a very private space.”

The three-storey townhouse is also smart on space, featuring a roomy, open-plan living and dining area and a large bedroom, leading to a separate study.

“It’s the flow of the place that draws us,” Bain says.

“It has a good sense of space. Certainly, the floor-to-ceiling glass really adds to the feeling of space.

“It’s fitted out to a high standard.”

The kitchen features modern cabinetry, stainless steel Smeg appliances and cooktop, stone benches, plenty of cupboard space, a large pantry and extra walk-in storage.

Upstairs, the bathroom features a seamless glass shower with a rainfall shower head.

Bain says the couple have enjoyed the convenience of living in Turner over the past 12 months without losing privacy.

“It’s very close to everything in Civic, Braddon, Lyneham, O’Connor,” he says. “It’s a very handy location.”

While the property features a green, easy-care garden in the front courtyard beneath the canopy of an established tree, the couple are looking forward to undertaking more gardening in a larger yard.

“We’re leaving here with mixed feelings – it’s been such a convenient location,” Bain says.

“We’re looking forward to getting some dirt under our fingernails.”
