London Circuit will soon be home to Canberra’s first full-service residential development, complete with a hotel-style concierge.
Residents of New York and London’s high-end apartments are already accustomed to enjoying the year-round five-star hotel experience, but The Capitol will be the first of its kind in Canberra, according to Crafted director Matt James.
“The most luxurious buildings in international cities such as New York, Chicago and London are full-service, including hotel-style concierge, gymnasium and sauna,” Mr James said.
“We are bringing this to Canberra in a striking new building – The Capitol.”
The 14-storey, 207-unit development will be positioned on the corner of London Circuit and Hobart Place.
It will feature a state-of-the-art Technogym and overlook the landscaped grounds of a revitalised Hobart Place.
Multi-award winning architect firm, Architectus, has designed the natural stone, concrete and bronze building and architect Brendan Randles said the transformative project would be “highly significant” for the central precinct.
“The Capitol will express sophistication and elegance and define what the contemporary Canberra should look and feel like,” Mr Randles said.
“The establishment of clear urban principals has allowed us to work with restraint – to design a truly elegant and timeless building that is as much about its new street context as internal lobbies or apartment amenity.”
The seven-day hotel-style concierge will be situated in a grand lobby and ensure residents never miss a delivery.
The concierge desk will include a parcel storage room and a cool room for online grocery deliveries. The concierge will also welcome guests and assist residents with dry cleaning and taxis.
The Capitol will comprise a mix of floor plans, with prices ranging from $289,900 for a studio, up to around $1.5 million for a sprawling three-bedroom “sky home”.
Situated directly opposite the Supreme and Magistrates courts and within a short stroll from ANU, Mr James said he expects legal professionals and students alike will be drawn to The Capitol.
Winner of the 2016 Australian Interior Designer of the Year Award, Fiona Lynch, has designed the building’s interiors.
Each home will feature oak timber floors, natural stone finishes and double glazing.
Mr James said Crafted has worked closely with the ACT government to ensure The Capitol is in line with the City Action Plan, the government’s vision for the city centre.
High-end restaurants will fill the Hobart Place side of the building and spill out onto freshly landscaped grounds.
“Private sector projects like The Capitol are good examples of the older buildings in the city being repurposed and given a new lease of life,” ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said.
Construction is expected to commence in the second half of 2017, with completion earmarked for late 2019.
The Capitol will be released for sale to the general public in early October, however early VIP opportunities are available to those who register their interest at www.thecapitolresidences.com.au
