Recently retired ANZ chief executive officer Mike Smith has sold his Melbourne home to a member of the Schiavello family, whose diversified company includes a property development arm and upmarket furniture fit-out business.

Smith and his wife Maria banked $13 million for the property with a tennis court and pool on Toorak‘s Hopetoun Road.

The sale ends a long saga for the Smiths: they sold the Toorak pile for $15 million in a deal that didn’t settle.

It was relisted last November for that price.

Months earlier, the couple downsized, paying former Olympic vice-president Kevan Gosper almost $6 million for a sub-penthouse in South Yarra‘s Isis building.

Kay & Burton‘s Ross Savas and Andrew Sahhar marketed the Smiths’ Toorak home, but declined to comment on the deal.
