Aubergine restaurant in Griffith was a Canberra fine-dining institution for some 14 years, and there are, no doubt, many foodies still mourning its passing.
Part of the theatre of the experience was the ambience created by its location in the Asprey development, a corner gateway to the popular Griffith shops.
There’s now an opportunity for an owner-occupier to potentially build on that legacy with their own vision for a new hospitality venture.
Chris Antos of Sentia Real Estate says Canberra’s culinary offerings and reputation have soared in recent years.
“Aubergine certainly set a high standard for creative fine dining,” he says. “This is an opportunity to leverage that location and bring something new to the food scene.”
The floor plan provides the perfect stage to launch a new era, with a dining room and bar, a complete commercial kitchen, and plenty of food, cold and other storage.
The space comes as a negotiable, fully fitted option and is licensed for 55 diners.
Antos says its features include quality decor, high ceilings and stunning lighting.
“It’s the ideal environment for the creation of new dining experiences,” he says. “Everything is there to potentially enable a new owner to begin trading from day one.”
There are also three basement car bays.
The space can also be leased for $105,000 a year plus GST.
