Give me a home among the clouds in Brisbane city

I’ve said it before, we have never and will never live in an apartment. That is largely because once you have lived with excess space there is no going back.

We are on 4000 square metres of bushland and completely cocooned by very old gum trees, which provide a view that makes me feel calm and generally, happy. However, those same great big beautiful gums are also the cause of an endless amount of maintenance and cleaning up so if you are not a glutton for punishment like we are, the low maintenance of an apartment building can be very, very appealing.

This week’s property round-up is the other extreme to how we now live; brand spanking, new apartments, in the heart of Brisbane city.

Being renovators, I’m not usually drawn to new apartments at all, I think because they’re just a bit … “new”, but this sparkly, new apartment in Brisbane Skytower has me interested.

I love the curves on this building, which is now Brisbane’s tallest residential building and through the full-height, double-glazed windows are impressive unobstructed views over Brisbane city.

It certainly helps that this apartment is impeccably styled and with the sort of restraint appropriate for resale.

High-end finishes like the marble-look kitchen island bench makes this apartment worthy of its price tag. And the balcony, equipped with thoughtfully designed swimming pool is really the icing on the cake.

Savoir Faire

Savoir Faire Residences II

If I were in the market for an apartment, the look of the exterior would weigh heavily in my decision. This is because while you can alter your interior to your taste, there is nothing you can do about a daggy exterior.

I see many very new residential buildings, which should, by all accounts, demonstrate the latest advances in modern design but instead, turn heads for all the wrong reasons. The Savoir Fare residence II building in Milton is not one of them.

It’s in fact a bit of “looker”. The timber screen on part of the facade softens the sharp lines of the building and the exteriors colours are in harmony with its surrounds.

Buyers are also going to find the location of these apartments very appealing with direct access to Milton and Park Road, and the superior cafes, restaurants and shopping that the area is renowned for.

Opera on Cordelia

Opera on Cordelia

These new apartments for sale in Opera in Cordelia, South Brisbane, have been designed and named in honour of the building’s location, Brisbane’s cultural precinct.

It is refreshing to see a new apartment look something other than generic. Rather, the finishes in these apartments are modern, sophisticated and on pointe.

The marble splashbacks in the kitchen and bathrooms, the powder-coated, black tapware and stunningly designed common entertaining area indicates to me that this is a progressive developer whose buyer is someone with a keen eye for design, and with attention to detail.

Some developers are so worried about delivering anything other than the norm that the end result is stale and unimpressive. From an interior styling point of view, my tip to developers is, offer something that your buyer doesn’t know they want.
