Built in 1890, the grand home has been lovingly passed down through the generations of the Grierson family.

The home has many unique features, including the near untouched wallpaper, window fixtures and doorframes.

It also has a near hidden staircase to the home’s upper level.

“It’s been in the Grierson family since the 1890s,” selling agent Chloe Wright of Kate Storey Realty told Domain.

The living room.

“It’s such a unique property. Everyone wants to come through to see it.”

The home has been vacant for the past year. Wright is selling the property on behalf of the owner’s son following her death.

Little is known about the history of the home other than it was the Forcett Shop in the early 1900s.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics found the Tasmanian town had an estimated population of 108 in 1900.

The near hidden stairway.

“Out the back, you’ll find the original Bakehouse, a nod to the property’s past and a reminder of its deep-rooted connection to the land,” the listing reads.

Wright said the owner would have loved to have kept the home in the family, however, circumstances out of his control means he is selling.

There has been significant interest in the property, with a number of offers made.
