If you’re looking for a home in Gungahlin that feels a world away from the suburbs, this property could be for you.

The custom-built contemporary house comes with classic features, from soaring high ceilings to timber floors, and is opposite a reserve.

Left of the large entry is the property’s talking point: the segregated main suite.

Without walls dividing the main room from the en suite, a freestanding bath is its centrepiece. The room also features a shower and toilet hidden behind a central vanity unit, plenty of built-in wardrobes and plantation shutters.

Floor-to-ceiling glass doors separate the front wing of the house from the heart of the home: an open-plan living, kitchen and dining space. Extra windows take advantage of the high ceilings and let in more light.

The kitchen features a neutral palette of greys and whites and is complete with stone benchtops, a large island bench and breakfast bar, lots of storage and stainless steel appliances.

The space flows onto a covered outdoor alfresco area, which includes blinds for extra enclosure and an exhaust fan for a barbecue.

It overlooks an easy-care, landscaped yard with lawn and hedging, gate access to the street and a 4000-litre water tank.

A second living area with access to the backyard features a built-in television cabinet and projector outlet.

The remaining three bedrooms, like the master, feature built-in robes and lush grey carpet. One also opens onto the yard.

They are scattered around the main bathroom, which has a built-in spa bath, double-sized shower and marble and porcelain tiling.

Selling agent Symon Badenoch says a range of buyers has inspected the property since it has been on the market, including families and young couples.

Attention to detail sets the home apart, thanks to the sharp eye of its owner-builders, while a neighbouring reserve creates a “rural feel”.

“It doesn’t feel like you’re in Gungahlin.”

A fireplace in both living areas, double garage with extra storage, ducted vacuum and solar power are among the other features.

Feature we love: High ceilings, timber floors and spacious living areas are a classic backdrop set to appeal to a range of buyers.
