How do you create a spacious, modern home that doesn’t sacrifice warmth?

This two-storey house in Chapman might be the answer you’re looking for.

Privacy is paramount at number 28, which is at the rear of a battleaxe block and surrounded by established hedges and trees.

It’s not until you reach the end of the driveway that the size of the property becomes clear: 3660 square metres of land, including a synthetic tennis court, an in-ground swimming pool and a cabana.

The inside of the house isn’t short on space either with nearly 1000 square metres of internal living, including six bedrooms.

The use of timber throughout and a design that takes advantage of natural light and surrounding greenery adds a homely touch.

Grey ironbark timber is a feature throughout the house, from the solid floors throughout the formal and informal living and dining areas to striking joinery in the entry and kitchen.

The cantilevered formal lounge and dining room at the front of the house overlooks the yard’s established gardens, the wrap-around windows flooding the area with natural light.

The expanse of glass continues into the informal living area, not only letting in light but creating a backdrop of bright foliage.

A large, modern kitchen overlooking the area includes plenty of stone bench space, Miele appliances, a huge walk-in pantry, two sinks and a large wine rack.

Sliding doors open on to a main balcony the size of a living area. It features an outdoor kitchen, including a barbecue.

A separate rumpus room is surrounded by four bedrooms and two en suites and opens on to a second deck – the perfect teenage retreat.

Parents do not miss out on their privacy, with a segregated master bedroom upstairs. It includes a large walk-in wardrobe and an en suite with a double shower, a double vanity unit and a built-in spa bath.

Car enthusiasts are set to fall in love with the garage, which can comfortably fit at least three cars and includes a car hoist with three-phase power and plenty of storage.

A second, “everyday” garage closer to the driveway also comfortably fits three cars.
