One of the most successful restaurant locations in Kingston is looking for a new hospitality operator to continue its legacy.
Many Canberrans will still be rueing the closure of Jones & Co on the corner of Giles and Kennedy streets, a bright dining spot that brought a little New York-inspired razzle dazzle to the popular precinct.
Dania Khalil, of Civium Property – Commercial, says the opportunity would ideally suit someone experienced in the restaurant sector.
“The current tenant will have a big influence on the selection of a successor to the space,” she says.
“His record of success in the restaurant sector certainly gives him the credentials to assess an applicant’s plan and vision for success.”
Khalil says the 288-square-metre space has an “amazing” fit-out highlighted by exposed brick features, backlit bar and imported fixtures.
“Some $2 million has been invested in the fit-out, but the current tenant is willing to negotiate a price if the theme complemented the new leasee’s vision,” she says.
“There’s also a commercial kitchen that has been designed to the highest standard. The space is essentially ready to plug and play.”
Khalil says she has been fielding enquiries from locals and interstate, essentially from hospitality operators who recognise the appeal of the location.
“There’s a lease until 2022 with the owner willing to explore options,” she says.
