Canberra’s real estate market has a powerful new player, with the official launch of Momentum Property.

Bucking the trend of a typical boutique launch, the new agency has hit the ground running as a major enterprise, boasting a team of about 50 and two strategic office locations.

The new agency is led by directors Justine and Tim Burke, and Nick Paine, all formerly of the Luton Properties network, and Anthony McCormack, who has moved on from Hayman Partners.

The old adage “there’s no ‘I’ in team” has been taken somewhat literally. The directors, who have all worked together in the past, have launched Momentum Property with a clear and ambitious vision: to build a large-scale agency that is defined by its team culture rather than the profile of any single agent.

“We all wanted to build a brand agency that is about a team and not about any one particular person because there’s just such a strength in that,” Justine Burke says.

“For us, the focus is really on growing our team so that then they can be the best version of themselves and therefore provide the best level of service.”

The agency’s clear and sleek branding can already be seen on over 100 signboards across the capital.

The team operates from two major hubs in Gungahlin Town Centre and Cooleman Court in Weston, providing a strategic footprint to service all of Canberra and its surrounds with both sales and property management.

Justine says this two-office structure was a deliberate decision to foster a strong, unified culture.

“We want to build strong teams and a strong internal culture within these offices,” she says. “We know that bringing big groups of people together means that services can be streamlined, messaging is really clear, and everyone feels a part of the team.

“We have brought across amazing people with this new brand, and they are all incredible at what they do. There’s no stopping in terms of that growth.”

The agency is backed by decades of combined industry experience, and its directors are determined to “go big” from day one.

Justine says they are drawing on the many lessons learned from their previous business ownership roles to start from a strong position that will only gather pace.

“What we did five years ago was very different to what we do now,” she says. “We know that we need to continually evolve and support our teams in that evolution to make sure that we’re providing great technology, great service and a great experience for our clients.”

This commitment to innovation is at the heart of the new venture, whose name perfectly captures its forward-moving ethos.

“We have brought across everything that works well,” Justine says, “but what we want to do is continue to innovate and work better in the future to take us forward over the next 10, 20 or 30 years.”
