Kingston Foreshore is set to come into its own this summer as its development reaches a critical mass of residents, workers and visitors.
Burgess Rawson managing director Guy Randell says the development already is a “phenomenal” success story, but that achievement will become ever more visible.
“There are going to be more residents moving in over the next few months as more developments are completed,” he says.
“That’s going to add to the buzz in the area over the summer holidays – along with increased numbers of visitors and tourists.”
Residential developments nearing completion include the Pier, Prince and Atelier buildings followed by Azure.
Randell has been significantly involved in sales and commercial leasing for much of the Kingston development and has a passion for the area.
“I liked it so much our office is here,” he says, emphasising that most of the strata title offices were owner-occupied.
“It’s a fantastic place to work. Employees love working in quality buildings and having access to a wide range of amenities including shops, gyms, cafes and bars.”
Randell says businesses have been carefully located in the development.
“We’ve been careful to ensure a mixture of the right kinds of businesses in the right kinds of locations,” he says.
“Obviously, the waterfront locations are highly amenable for restaurants, cafes and bars and other kinds of businesses that best serve high foot traffic areas.”
Randell says hospitality operations have already proved highly successful, with owners reporting great results, particularly in evening and weekend trade.
“Weekend numbers are already phenomenal,” Randell says.
“Some owners would expand their businesses if there was space.”
Randell says the foreshore development has a bright long-term future.
“It’s a destination location that’s going to stand the test of time,” he says.
“The mix of a waterfront position, restaurants and bars and residents who love its community feel means the Kingston Foreshore will be difficult to buy into.”
The Burgess Rawson head is looking forward to the development of the forthcoming Arts Precinct.
“That’s really the last piece of the puzzle,” he says.
The Arts Precinct will blend a number of heritage buildings with new spaces to deliver the creative heart of Kingston Foreshore.
Randell believes that could eventually be followed by a stronger connection with the aged Kingston shops along with their potential redevelopment.
